About the Heavy Equipment Repair Operations program:

Student operates heavy equipment machinery as other students stand by

The Heavy Equipment Repair Operations program focuses on the proper operation and general maintenance of equipment including but not limited to skid steer, backhoe, bulldozer, tractor and wagon. Students learn through textbooks, operator manuals, research, hands-on activities and teacher-led discussions. Students are frequently outside operating equipment on the premises. Potential certifications upon completion include OSHA 10, forklift, and NCCER-Heavy Equipment Operator Level 1.

This program is accredited through the AED Foundation for Diesel Repair.

Study:

  • Equipment preventative maintenance

  • Basic safety

  • Personal protection safety

  • Hand and power tools

  • Diesel tech & power train theory

Obtain certifications in:

  • OSHA

  • NCCER - Equipment Operations Level 1

  • Core curriculum

  • ANSI hand signals (American National Standards Institute)

  • ATSSA flagger

Operate:

In a work-based learning environment, learn to operate heavy equipment such as:

  • Bulldozers

  • Backhoes

  • Tractors

  • Excavators

  • Front-end loaders

Outcomes:

Students can further their education through pre-arranged college articulation agreements or be prepared to enter the work force upon graduation.

Work-based hours:

Hours are provided on-site with the opportunity to complete additional hours off-site. (If entry level requirements are met.)
