Scholarship Foundation Awards recipients pose on stage

The Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation awarded scholarships to local high school and adult students during the foundation’s 32nd annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 24.

During the ceremony, Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees member Deavon Eysaman discussed the award selection process and thanked students’ families for supporting them, but she started off by speaking directly to the students.

“First of all, congratulations on your award,” Eysaman said.

The awards ceremony and dinner took place at the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES William E. Busacker Complex in Herkimer. During the event, Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees President Sharon Baisley conducted the welcome and introductions; thanks were given to event sponsors Day Automation, King + King Architects and M&T Bank; and Baisley and Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees member Sarah Crowe presented students with their certificates.

The goal of the Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation is to expand access to higher education for students in the region who are in career and technical education fields. To date, the foundation has provided more than 350 scholarships – totaling more than $200,000.

The foundation’s largest fundraiser each year is the Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament, which takes place this year at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, at the Cedar Lake Golf Club.
