Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Adult Practical Nursing Program students recently had the chance to meet with prospective employers in the Mohawk Valley and see first-hand how in-demand licensed practical nurses are.
Local adult students who will be graduating the Herkimer BOCES program this June as LPNs met with representatives from a variety of healthcare facilities, nursing homes and colleges.
“It has opened my eyes to a lot more positions,” said Patrick Kelly, a student in the full-time LPN class. “It gives you a good view of what there is out there.”
The Herkimer BOCES LPN Career Fair took place on Monday, June 5, at the Herkimer BOCES Remington Educational Complex in Ilion.
The Herkimer BOCES Adult Practical Nursing Program offers three different options: a 12-month full-time class, a 20-month part-time day class and a 20-month part-time evening class. The next full-time class starts in July, and the next part-time class starts in September.

High school students in the Herkimer BOCES Health Science Careers class also attended the LPN Career Fair – including Gracie Bohannon, of Little Falls City School District. “It gives you a variety of different areas,” Bohannon said. “I just think it’s an overall great opportunity for kids our age and people going into LPN overall.”
