The second spotlight is on: Herkimer BOCES Assistant Principal of Alternative Education Terrence Campo.
Q. About when did you start working in your current position at Herkimer BOCES?
A. Since August [2023], when I finished my internship program.
Q. What led you to your current position at Herkimer BOCES?
A. Before this, I served as dean of students while I was completing my internship hours. Before that, I was a math teacher at Pathways since 2017.
Q. What do you find rewarding about working in your current position?
A. Working as an assistant principal has been incredibly rewarding. It has allowed me to play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for our students, collaborating with dedicated educators and staff and fostering a positive learning environment. Every day, I have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, helping them grow academically and personally. This role has given me the privilege of supporting our school community and witnessing the growth and success of our students, and for that, I am truly grateful.
Q. When did you first know you wanted to work in this field and what made you feel that way?
A. I first knew I wanted to work in the field of education during my high school years. It was there that I had the privilege of being inspired by a remarkable teacher who ignited my passion for teaching and helping others learn. From that point forward, I was certain that a career in education was my calling.
Q. What do you think makes Herkimer BOCES special?
A. Our educators and support staff are not just professionals but also passionate individuals who are deeply committed to the success and well-being of our students. Their dedication makes all the difference.
Q. What value do you believe Herkimer BOCES provides for students and/or the community?
A. Herkimer BOCES adds value to the community by providing education, workforce development, innovation, support and a sense of pride that benefits not only our students but also the broader region.
