Twenty-eight teams participated in the 21st annual Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament and helped raise more than $15,717 to provide scholarships to local students.
The tournament took place on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at the Cedar Lake Club in Clayville. Funds raised from the tournament go to students pursuing college or employment in their field of study following a vocational education in high school.
The winning team at the tournament was the HCCC Foundation with team members Don Dutcher, Nick Laino, Rick Salamone and Kevin Todd.
The school trophy went to Frankfort-Schuyler, and Superintendent Joe Palmer accepted the award on behalf of his team. The team was sponsored by King + King Architects.
For raffles, Mark Deierlein won a basketball and Syracuse Orange tickets, and Parker Gauthier won New York Knicks tickets.
Next year’s tournament will take place on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, at the Cedar Lake Club. The Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation is a not-for-profit community scholarship foundation. A group of local citizens from many professions works voluntarily to generate scholarship funds for graduates of technical programs in the region.
To date, the Herkimer Region College & Career Scholarship Foundation has provided more than 360 scholarships – totaling more than $205,000 – to students in technical programs at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES and its 10 component school districts: Central Valley, Dolgeville, Frankfort-Schuyler, Herkimer, Little Falls, Mount Markham, Owen D. Young, Poland, Richfield Springs and West Canada Valley.
