The Oneida-Madison-Herkimer Counties School Boards Institute will conduct it’s annual “How to Become a School Board Candidate and What to Expect if Elected” Workshop on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. This informational workshop is free of charge and open to all residents in the Oneida – Madison – Herkimer BOCES region.

The program will be in a ZOOM platform. Registration to the ZOOM site will be from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. The program will begin at 6:00 pm.

This program is a direct response to a survey among first year school board members. They indicated this information would be helpful to individuals who are considering becoming candidates for their local school boards.

- Pick up Petition from your Local Board of Education Clerk

- April 21, 2025 - Return petition to Board Clerk with at least 25 signatures

(Always have a few more signatures than the minimum)

- April 30, 2025 For Small City Schools return Petition to Board Clerk with at least 100 signatures

- May 20, 2025 Budget and Board Election Vote

Election Results / Financial Disclosures / If successful in the vote:

- Meet mandated BOE Training requirements - 6 hours of New School Board of Education Training and 6 hours of Fiscal Oversight Training
