Community Information Session, community survey planned

WEST WINFIELD – Mount Markham Central School District has launched a search for a new superintendent of schools and is accepting applications now through April 25.

Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent D.J. Shepardson is leading the superintendent search on behalf of the Mount Markham Board of Education. The superintendent search brochure and application are available at www.herkimer-boces.org and www.mmcsd.org - or directly by clicking here.

Shepardson will host a Community Information Session about the superintendent search at 6 p.m. on April 16 in the Mount Markham High School Auditorium. The session will include discussion of the search process, timeline and community survey.

The Mount Markham Board of Education is also looking for community input about the search process through an online survey that will be open from April 17-25. The survey will be posted on the Herkimer BOCES and Mount Markham websites on April 17.

Screening and selection of candidates will take place between April and May 2025. Board of Education interviews will take place during May and June 2025.

It’s anticipated that the new superintendent will start on Sept. 1.

The superintendent search process began following a recent announcement by current Mount Markham Superintendent Joe D’Apice that he will be resigning to take the position of superintendent of schools at the New Hartford Central School District. D’Apice will remain Mount Markham’s superintendent through April 27.

David Langone has been appointed to serve as the interim superintendent beginning April 28.
