The Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Pathways Academy at Remington has extended its switch to virtual learning through Thursday, Nov. 19, with a return to in-person instruction on Friday, Nov. 20, in response to an additional confirmed positive case of COVID-19.
Previously, after Herkimer BOCES was notified on Thursday, Nov. 5, by a Pathways Academy staff member of a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, the Pathways Academy moved to virtual instruction starting Friday, Nov. 6, with an original final day of virtual instruction on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Since then, Herkimer BOCES was notified of an additional Pathways Academy staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, Nov. 6, but was in school on Thursday, Nov. 5. The staff member from the first case was last in school on Tuesday, Nov. 3, so the second case added two days to the 14-day period of closure – making the final date of virtual instruction now Thursday, Nov. 19, instead of Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Herkimer BOCES worked closely with the Herkimer County Public Health Department on the contact tracing process and decisions. Extra cleaning and sanitizing was conducted at Pathways Academy following the decision to move to virtual instruction.
All Herkimer BOCES programs other than the Pathways Academy are continuing on their regular schedules because their programs were not affected.
Further information and announcements will be provided as updates are available. If you have further questions/concerns, do not hesitate to contact the BOCES district office at 315-867-2023.
